My daughter will be 2 years old for this Christmas and so she is too young to understand. But for me the purpose of Santa is to share the joy with your children at Christmas and teach them the value of giving to others.

From what I've read about the history of Christmas and Santa - it has evolved and been added to over time. I think the whole good or bad thing started with that Santa Clause is Coming to Town song.
